Yorkshire Cancer Research (YCR) was founded in 1925, to fund research into the cause and cure of cancer.
YCR is the most successful regional medical research charity in the UK. We fund internationally recognised research, which focuses on a variety of cancers including: breast, bowel, cervical, non-Hodgkin Lymphoma, ovarian, prostate, skin, and genetics of cancers, to name but a few.
YCR is not a regional division of a national charity - it is an independent charity, based and operating in Yorkshire only. We are still, however, at the very forefront of the international fight to find a cure for cancer.
Yorkshire Cancer Research raises its money in Yorkshire and spends it in Yorkshire at its five centres of excellence based at the universities of Bradford, Hull, Leeds, Sheffield and York and their associated teaching hospitals.
Yorkshire Cancer Reserach is a member of the Association of Medical Research Charities (AMRC) - a membership organisation of the leading medical and health research charities in the UK.

Yorkshire Cancer Research submitted an application to Google AdWords for a Google Grant. The application included our mission statement and a bit about our charity, after reviewing our annual reports and investigating our website, Google have awarded the charity with the Google Grant. This is essentially a donation of in-kind advertising appearing on their search engine.
The Google grant will allow Yorkshire Cancer Research to increase presence and rankings on Google through an advertising section which appears down the right hand side of the Google search pages. Google Adwords works by associating keywords with a specific search term, an example of which could be 'Yorkshire Cancer Research' - charity, cancer, Yorkshire, research, fundraising etc.
The advertising grant is potentially worth up to £10,000 a month depending on how many people click through the advert to our website. This will give the charity a larger presence on the internet, increasing general outreach, fundraising activities, and recruitment of volunteers.
Google commented: "This is a unique in-kind donation program awarding free AdWords advertising to select charitable organizations. We support organizations sharing our philosophy of community service to help the world in areas such as science and technology, education, global public health, the environment, youth advocacy, and the arts".
