- The life-time chance of a woman developing breast cancer is 1 in 9
- Around 46,000 women are diagnosed each year in the UK
- Breast cancer is the most common form of cancer in women - nearly 1 in 3 of all cancers in women occur in the breast
- Around 350 men are diagnosed with breast cancer in the UK every year
- There has been a continuing decline in the mortality figures over the last 10 years
- 80% of breast cancers occur in post-menopausal women
- Around 8,000 pre-menopausal women are diagnosed each year in the UK, of which just over 2,000 are in their 20's and 30's
- 90% of breast cancers are first spotted by women themselves or their partners
