The 2009 Joan Glendinning Golf Tournament raises £7000

The 2009 Joan Glendinning Golf Tournament held recently at Otley Golf Club raised over £7,000.00, 30% more than last year's inaugural competition.
John Glendinning, joint founder of JMG Group and Organiser, with assistance from son Paul, said "Everyone has been so open handed for the Charity, the generosity of not just the team entrants, but many other individuals and Companies has made this event a massive success."Already plans are in place for next year and players can book in for this very enjoyable day on September 15th 2010.
16 teams of four played in the competition and the winning team was Messrs A. F. Connel Ltd from Halifax beating the runners up, Digital Welly Ltd of Otley on the back nine with the same score of 91 points .
Sally Crerar, Head of Community Fundraising at Yorkshire Cancer Research commented: "We are extremely grateful to John for using this event as a way of fundraising for Yorkshire Cancer Research in memory of his late wife Joan. All those taking part have done a fantastic job in raising over £7000 and we wish them well for future tournaments."
Joan was joint founder and Company Secretary of J.M.Glendinning and John, her husband, believes this is a significant way to remember her untimely death at the age of 58, and to help with the vital work of the charity.
