The Clangers are looking for brand partnerships in 2010
21 Oct 2009
Oliver Postgate and Peter Firmin produced some of the most charming children's animation ever made, including Bagpuss and Ivor the Engine. Perhaps the most notable of the series they are responsible for in terms of its impact on popular culture is the Clangers.
The Clangers and their home knitted charm are a 1960's icon, and they are making a come back!
Yorkshire Cancer Research has entered into a fundraising partnership with Coolabi Licensing and The Big Badge Company to use the children's characters to help raise vital funds for research into cancer at Bradford, Hull, Leeds, Sheffield and York Universities and associated teaching hospitals.
Clair Chadwick, Head of Marketing and Fundraising said "retro characters and nostalgia is huge at the moment. The Clangers are a home spun family that speak, or rather whistle, of more innocent and simpler times. They have universal appeal and we are hoping to launch into partnership with a major Yorkshire brand."
Janet Woodward, Head of Licensing at Coolabi said, "We are delighted to be entering into a fundraising partnership with Yorkshire Cancer Research. This collaboration with the Clangers is innovative and the children's character will appeal to those who remember the original series as well as students and younger children".
Richard Wood from The Big Badge Company said, "our agency is looking for a prestigious Yorkshire brand to partner with the Clangers. This will not only help raise the profile of a Yorkshire product or service but also help raise vital funds for Yorkshire Cancer Research."
