For more Christmases with family

Russell from Sheffield was diagnosed with prostate cancer last Christmas. Thanks to early detection, his cancer could be treated and he's looking forward to spending this Christmas with his family.

Help continue Yorkshire’s legacy of vital progress by supporting the 2025 Christmas Appeal. Every pound will help ensure more world-leading research, like the new prostate cancer trial, IMProVE, save lives in Yorkshire.

"Cancer changes Christmas.

"The hardest part for me was not being able to hug my grandchildren due to the type of radiation treatment I was on. Fast-forward to now, and I am feeling hopeful.

"Your gift could change the future for families like mine."

More research.
More options.
More people surviving cancer.

Every day, 85 people in Yorkshire are told they have cancer. Even at Christmas, too many families are facing uncertainty and worry. Your gift this Christmas could help change this.

More Christmases after a diagnosis

“Christmas is usually a time of joy and being together, but suddenly Russell’s cancer diagnosis was on everyone’s mind. This Christmas feels particularly special – it's a powerful reminder of how much can change in a year.”

Russell’s family have supported him through diagnosis and treatment, including his stepdaughter, Rowen. She is passionate about investment into cancer research in Yorkshire, so more people get the treatment they need.

Professor Jim Catto is Russell's consultant and an experienced researcher leading the IMPRoVE prostate cancer trial funded by Yorkshire Cancer Research. He is one of the 750 cancer experts working with Yorkshire Cancer Research to find new and better ways to prevent, diagnose and treat cancer in Yorkshire.

Every £140 raised this festive season could fund a researcher for one day.

Will you gift more of Jim's time?

Please consider giving £25 or whatever you can, to continue Yorkshire’s legacy of vital progress beyond 2025.

Christmas Moments

Christmas is a time for celebration, for being together, but also for reflection. Take a moment to celebrate someone special and help give people with cancer in Yorkshire more Christmases with their loved ones.

By making a dedication this Christmas, you can celebrate someone who has recovered from cancer, thank someone who has shown their support, recognise someone having cancer treatment, or remember someone who is sadly no longer with us.
