Yorkshire Cancer Research's representation to the government's Autumn Budget 2025 content
The Budget is a statement made to the House of Commons by the Chancellor of the Exchequer, Rachel Reeves MP for Leeds West and Pudsey, which sets out the UK government's planned spending and revenue. The proposals in the Budget are then debated by MPs in the House of Commons and brought into law in the passing of the subsequent Finance Bill. The Autumn Budget 2025 will take place on 26th November 2025.
Yorkshire Cancer Research has submitted its representation to HM Treasury ahead of the Autumn Budget 2025. The charity has called for four key proposals to be included in the Budget which can reduce the number of lives lost to cancer. Yorkshire Cancer Research is calling for the introduction of a tobacco industry levy, a commitment to multi-year funding for the NHS Lung Cancer Screening Programme, the introduction of minimum unit pricing for alcohol in England and increased investment in health research.
