Yorkshire Cancer Research’s response to the ‘Standardised packaging for all tobacco products’ call for evidence

Yorkshire Cancer Research has responded to the Department of Health and Social Care’s call for evidence on ‘Standardised packaging for all tobacco products’. As of January 2025, standardised packaging is a legal requirement for all cigarettes but not wider tobacco products such as cigars, cigarillos, waterpipe tobacco and cigarette papers. The department sought to understand the evidence on the impact that standardised packaging of all tobacco products could have on health outcomes, the environment and retailers. Yorkshire Cancer Research welcomed the opportunity to share its views on how to reduce smoking prevalence in our region and improve the prevention of cancer.
