National Cancer Plan update
Yorkshire Cancer Research has welcomed the National Cancer Plan announced on World Cancer Day, 4 February 2026.
Several of the charity’s key proposals have now been reflected in the Government’s strategy.
Thank you to the 3,000 people who sent a White Rose to London - your voice was heard.
What we've achieved together
Yorkshire Cancer Research campaign supporters have already helped deliver real change. With your support, we can go even further. Together, we have:
- Brought life-saving lung screening to people at risk across the country – enabling thousands to get earlier checks that could save their lives.
- Established Yorkshire Cancer Research as a trusted voice in national cancer policy – with MPs, Peers, and the Department of Health and Social Care actively seeking our insight, including at key decision‑making roundtables.
- Amplified Yorkshire’s voice on the national stage – ensuring that the unique needs of our region are heard clearly, both locally and in Westminster.
- Secured vital information from Ministers and through Parliamentary Questions – strengthening our evidence base and advocacy.
Thank you to everyone who has already taken action - you have shown decision-makers that the needs of Yorkshire cannot be overlooked.
Please help continue this progress.
Quote from Karen Nile, Sheffield
If everyone diagnosed with cancer could benefit from the same kind of support I received, their experience from diagnosis onwards could be truly transformed. That's why it's so important to call the Government's attention.
