Georgiana Bonser was Yorkshire Cancer Research's first female researcher. Her bladder cancer research contributed to the ban of a commonly used cloth dye affecting thousands of dye workers in Leeds, helping to reduce the incidence of bladder cancer in Yorkshire and across the country.
Hailed as a pioneering female scientist ahead of her time, Georgiana went on to be a leading advisor to the government on the safety of food dyes and fought for women to get their rightful opportunities in the medical world.
