Stan Brown led the research behind world-first photodynamic therapy (PDT) cancer drugs. His team in Leeds developed Photofrin, the first PDT drug, approved in 1993, and a new type of PDT drug used for skin cancer treatment. By 1996, PDT had treated thousands worldwide for various cancers. Stan's team also developed Verteporfin, preserving eyesight for over a million people by 2005.
