Professor Philip Quirke is a pioneering bowel cancer researcher at the University of Leeds whose collaboration with Yorkshire Cancer Research spans over 40 years. Since first funding his PhD in 1984, Yorkshire Cancer Research has funded his innovative bowel cancer research which has led to transformative techniques in bowel cancer surgery and helped revolutionise cancer treatment for people with cancer in Yorkshire and around the world. Since Yorkshire Cancer Research started funding Professor Quirke’s research, improvements to surgery have helped to double the number of people surviving bowel cancer.
